Tidehold Command

★★★★★ 4.5 Editor rating

Tidehold Command asks you to build and defend a string of island forts while the tide rises and falls on a predictable clock. Timing your construction around the water is the whole puzzle, and it turns a familiar genre into something that rewards planning ahead.

You command units with simple drag-select gestures, and the interface never gets in the way. I appreciated that pausing is a core mechanic rather than an afterthought — you can stop time, issue orders, and let it play out, which keeps the strategy brainy instead of frantic.

Later maps introduce storms that scramble your tide schedule, and that's where it shines. A plan that worked for ten islands suddenly needs rethinking, and the game trusts you to figure it out without hand-holding.
